The Clean and the Dirty
April 23rd, 2007
The Clean…
Felix Pie: Cubs prospect who was called up to patrol center field when Alfonso Soriano got hurt. Soriano is now back and will move to left, making room for Pie to stay in the majors.
Matt Cain: SF Giants’ 22-year-old starter who has a 1.55 era through 4 starts. He won his first game on Sunday night, pitching a complete game four-hitter. He’s given up just 11 hits in 29 innings.
Adam Mills: UNC Charlotte staring pitcher who entered the weekend having thrown five-straight complete games. He’s 9-1 w/ an ERA under one through 12 starts this season.
The Dirty…
Terrmel Sledge: Didn’t get a hit in the last calendar-week and is now hitting .200. Through 14 games this season he has 11 strkieouts and seven hits for the Padres.
Jorge Julio: Gave up 12 runs in less than six-innings of work to start the season. He blew his only two save opportunities of the year and lost his job in the season’s 2nd week. He’s now on the DL.
Safeway: The candy bar I bought from the safeway in Fairfax, Virginia yesterday was partially melted by the time I put it in my car. That is absurd, how hot does a store have to be to melt a candy bar. I won’t shop there again.
