Redskins sign Reche Caldwell
September 11th, 2007
Two days after winning their season-opening game, the Washington Redskins announced that they have signed Reche Caldwell. Caldwell spent last season in New Enlgand, where he led the Patriots in receiving in 2006.
Caldwell was available because the Patriots released him at the end of training camp. After having added Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth, and Wes Welker this winter, the team had no need for Caldwell, who caught 61-passes for 760-yards and scored four-touchdowns a year ago. He also made 16-receptions and compiled 176-receiving yards during New England’s playoff run a year ago.
A second-round, draft-choice of the San Diego Chargers back in 2002, Caldwell now has 63 NFL games to his credit. The former Florida Gator will compete with Brandon Lloyd and James Thrash for playing time behind starting-receivers Santana Moss and Antwan Randle El.
