Happy Thanksgiving to you. I hope that like me, you’ll be spending your afternoon talking, eating, and hanging out with friends and family or both. Today is one of my favorite days of the year, and why shouldn’t it be. There’s nothing wrong with a day dedicated to eating and watching football with some of your favorite people on the planet.

I’m watching the Packers-Lions game right now, and like most of you probably, I’m marvelling at Brett Favre’s ability. The guy’s been around for a couple decades, and he’s closer to being 50-years-old than he is 30. But he’s still so good. He throws the best ball on a slant-route in the game, and Favre’s arm is still one of the strongest in football. And the way he runs around like a little kid after a big completion or touchdown reminds me of the excitement I play with in backyard-games.

Say what you want about where Favre ranks on the all-time lists amongst the game’s best passers. Personally I think he’s somewhere between 5-and-7 on the all-time QB list. But regardless of whether you think he’s under or overrated, you can’t help but admire the passion and intensity he competes with.

Speaking of the team Favre’s Green Bay Packers are visiting right now, the somewhat surprising Detroit Lions (6-4), I can’t believe that the boys in blue are actually running the football. I thought that Mike Martz - the team’s offensive coordinator - had to kick himself in the shin every time he calls a run play? If that’s the case, his lower legs will be sore at day’s end. Not only is Detroit running the ball regularly, they are also running effectively. Who knew.

I like the Cowboys and Colts to win the late games this afternoon. Dallas is way too good for the Jets, and I expect Damarcus Ware to sack Kellen Clemmons multiple times. Indianapolis and Atlanta aren’t on the same planet right now, and with that said … expect Peyton Manning to get back on track with a three-toucdown effort.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Grant P
