1. Gilbert Arenas: Returning before the end of this season?

I heard over the weekend that Gilbert Arenas is toying with the idea of re-joining the Washington Wizards for the final five games of the season. I went to the Wizards game tonight. It was my first time going to the Verizon Center for a game this season. As you probably now know, the Wizards lost again. Tonight’s setback to the Miami Heat drops Washington’s record to 1-7 on the season.

There is a lot to like about the young team that the Wizards are putting on the floor these days. But as the team’s record indicates, there is also a lot not to like. I’m not one of these people who doesn’t think that Washington is going to turn its season around in time to make the playoffs. Frankly, the East is way too bad for the Wizards to not get in. I also think that the Wizards will continually progress as the season goes a long. Read the rest »

Wizards: Jamison Helped off the Floor

Atawn Jamison left the Wizards’ preseason opener against the Dallas Mavericks with an injury. The veteran forward was helped off the floor after his knee buckled in the first-quarter of Tuesday night’s exhibition game.

Jamison’s status hasn’t been updated since the game ended. The latest word from a Wizards official was that the all-star forward suffered a “strained right knee.” If a strain is all that is wrong with Jamison’s knee, Washington and it’s captain, should consider themselves lucky. Read the rest »

Wizards: Need Win in Game Three

The Washington Wizards are down 0-2 in their first-round series with the Cleveland Cavaliers. That is the bad news for Eddie Jordan’s bunch. The good news is that the series is shifting back to Washington for the next two games, the first of which will be played at the Verizon Center tonight.

Washington needs to do a few things to get back in the win column. Firstly they have to play more under control, and play with more composure. The Wizards have lost their cool in each of the first couple games, which have both been physical enough to warrant double-technicals. (In game two Brendan Haywood was ejected for a hard foul on Lebron James). Read the rest »

Gilbert Arenas is White Hot

Gilbert Arenas is putting on a show in the first-half of game-one of a first-round series between the Cleveland Cavaliers and his Washington Wizards.

Arenas, who missed 66 games with a knee injury this season, came off the bench late in the first-quarter. To this point, he’s four-for-four from behind the arc, having scored 14-points off the bench in guiding the Wizards to the early advantage. Read the rest »

1. Add Taylor Swift to my list. I don’t know what list I want her on exactly. I just know that I want her on it. I heard today that she is only 18. That is crazy. She looks much older. Not Greg Oden older, but older. Maybe like 20. Anways, put her on my list.

2. I just heard one of the local D.C. reporters say that Gilbert Arenas is boycotting the local media. He’s only talking, or should I say typing, on his blog. He must be doing this to get his website and blog some more hits, because he has never been one to dislike dealing with the media. Arenas was made for press conferences. His grade-a personality and garralous way of holding court with the press has made him a fan and media favorite over the last few years, and I’d be surprised if this media-ban keeps up into next week’s playoff match up with Cleveland. Wizads: Time to un-leash Gilbert Arenas

It’s time for Eddie Jordan to let Gilbert Arenas off of his leash. I get why Washington is being careful with it’s best player. He’s just coming back from a knee injury, and the club was playing mediocre enough basketball without him to net a middle-of-the-pack seed in the East.

But Arenas is far too good to be a bench player, and if he is healhty enough to play — than he should be playing big minutes. Read the rest »

Redskins -

I like how quiet the Redskins have been this week. Normally Dan Snyder has flown back and forth across the map three of four times by now courting free-agents. That hasn’t been the case this season. The only players Washington has inked in the six-days since the free-agency period began are Todd Collins and Shaun Suisham. Both were Redskins last year, and each was on the wrong end of an expiring contract. Read the rest »

Ryan Howard won his arbitration hearing — Good for him. He should have. He’s a beast. There are only two or three other hitters in baseball as feared as he is, and I’m not sure that there is another power-hitter as feared as Howard is. It was determined on Thursday that the Phillies will pay him $10 million this season, which ties Alfonso Soriano’s previous record for money recevied through the third-party system. Last year, Howard belted 47-homers and drove in 136 RBI. I’d anticipate those numbers to both rise slightly this year. Read the rest »
