Redskins Lose Rogers For Year
October 30th, 2007
The Washington Redskins’ embarrasing 52-7 loss at the hands of the New England Patriots on Sunday became even more painful today. Two days after the dust had cleared in the wake of the team’s worst setback in decades, the Redskins learned that they would have to play the rest of the 2007 season without starting-cornerback Carlos Rogers.
Rogers was the ninth overall pick back in 2005, and in this his third season the former Auburn Tiger had been playing his best football. It seemed as though Rogers had turned the corner as a defender, and there was little doubting that his coverage in one-on-one situations this season was better than it had been in each of the past two seasons. Quotes from Bob Costas on Minors & Majors
October 28th, 2007
The following quotes from Bob Costas come from my interview with him on my baseball show on XM Satellite Radio called Minors and Majors. Mr. Costas was a brilliant guest, as he generally is, and he had some very interesting thoughts on both the World Series and Barry Bonds among countless other things… Read the rest »
Dolphins Swimming on the Bottom
October 25th, 2007
Dolphins generally swim near the surface, or as close to the top of the water they are in as possible. Not the Miami Dolphins though. They like swimming on the bottom, and seven-weeks and seven-losses into their season, these Dolphins are hoping that they’ve reached rock-bottom.
Going nearly two-months without a win to start a season is never fun. Currently one of just two teams at 0-7, Miami can attest to that. But it gets were for a Dolphins team that looks like it’s on a fast-track for the number-1 pick in April’s NFL Draft. Read the rest »
Rocks n’ Sox — Fall Classic
October 25th, 2007
This series is shaping up like one of those Davd-vs.-Golliath like classics.
The Boston Red Sox are the better team, and everybody knows it. They were the best team in the American League, which is much better than the National League. The Colorado Rockies were the fourth-best team in the National League, which doesn’t hold a candle to the American Leauge. Read the rest »

Redskins can’t look past Cards to Pats
October 23rd, 2007
THERE ARE NO guarantees in sports–and no gimme games. Because talent is only part of what it takes to win, upsets are always possible. If they weren’t, most of your favorite sports movies wouldn’t have been made.
We learned this long ago. Our teachers were the U.S. hockey team in the 1980 Winter Olympics, and the Super Bowl champion New York Jets in 1969. Read the rest »

D-Backs Sweep Cubs
October 6th, 2007
The Arizona Diamondbacks just put the finishing touches on a first-round sweep of the Chiacgo Cubs. Arizona, the National League West winner, punched its ticket to the NLCS on Saturday night with a 5-1 game-three win over the Chicago, de-railing the Cubs in their quest to win their first World Series in 99-years.
Before you get all upset and start feeling bad for Lou Pinella and his Cubs, realize that the fellas in blue-and-red have nothing to be upset about. This team finished last season 30-games under .500. A year ago at this time, saying out loud that the Cubs would win their division in 2007 would have led to laughter. Read the rest »
Free Agents the Orioles should Target
October 4th, 2007
The MLB offseason is here, for the Baltimore Orioles anyway, and yet again the Birds will enter the winter on a sour note.
I’ve scanned the list of available free-agents this offseason. It’s not a long list, nor is it one comprised of a bevy of difference-makers. Here are the players I think that the Orioles should effort to add though. Read the rest »
Dropping the Ball… Quality WR Remains on Bench
October 2nd, 2007
A month into the NFL-season, the Washington Redskins are 2-1. If not for a second-half meltdown against an incessantly-improving New York Giants team, Washington would be 3-0. But they are not, and maybe they don’t deserve to be.
What do I mean? Let me explain. Read the rest »
