The Washington Redskins completed a trade with the Miami Dolphins for defensive-end Jason Taylor last night. The trade was announced just hours after the Redskins lost the services of both Phillip Daniels and Alex Buzbee for the season. Daniels was expected to start a left defensive-end. Buzbee was competing to become one of the team’s top reserves on the defensive line.
The acquisition of Taylor gives Washington the most accomplished duo of pass rushers the team has had in some two-decades, when Dexter Manley and Charles Mann were racing against one another to get to the quarterback first. Taylor, an eleven-year veteran who has served as one of the NFL’s premiere right-ends over the past decade, is expected to move to the left side of Washington’s front-four. Incumbent right defensive-end Andre Carter, who is coming off a career year, will continue to work against left-tackles. Read the rest »
